Mentor Program & RESIDENT FELLOWS PROGRAM

Haven House is a Fellowship

Haven House is a home and a Christian Study Center operated by missionaries affiliated with Youth With A Mission (YWAM). The YWAM Student Centre is a nonprofit religious organization that provides a religious educational fellowship for university students and ministry participants. Residents participate in long-term fellowship through shared meals, prayer, study, mentoring, hospitality, and spiritual formation within a cooperative household setting.

Supervision

The house and ministry are supervised by resident leaders and YWAM missionaries, John & Mary, who are responsible for maintaining community standards, household operations, and program oversight.

Home

The residence functions as a single housekeeping unit where participants live cooperatively as a single household under mission-based communal living principles.

Haven House Mentor Program

Grow in Faith. Build Lasting Friendships. Follow Jesus with Confidence.

College can be an exciting time filled with new opportunities, but it can also bring challenges. Many college students and young adults face loneliness, pressure, and confusing ideas about life and faith. Without strong Christian friendships and guidance, some drift away from their relationship with Jesus.

The Haven House Mentor Program, our core program, exists to help students and other young adults learn to remain rooted in their faith as they grow into confident Christian adults. Through caring relationships with mature believers, students and young adults receive encouragement, wisdom, and practical support as they navigate college life and beyond.

Why Mentorships Matter

We believe that spiritual growth happens best in relationships. A Spiritual Mentorship does not replace regular church fellowship, Bible studies, or outreach activities; the mentorship personalizes and deepens Christian growth. The pathway to spiritual leadership has always been through the wise counsel of a mentor. Therefore, we offer a trusted Spiritual Growth Mentorship Program—connecting students and young adults to a mature follower of Jesus who walks alongside them, prays with them, and helps them grow in faith.

Some young adults already have someone they would like to serve in this role. Others may ask Haven House to connect them with a mentor from our Christian community.

Just as an academic advisor helps students succeed in school, a Spiritual Growth Mentor helps students grow in their walk with Christ.

Mentor Program Fees

The Haven House Mentor Program fee is $100 per month, which helps cover program materials and activities. However, thanks to generous supporters, most students are invited to participate through scholarships, making the program available at little or no cost. Participation in the Mentor Program does not require living at Haven House. Students may join while living elsewhere. Whether living at Haven House or participating as a non-resident, every student is invited to grow in faith, build meaningful relationships, and become a faithful Christian presence on campus and in the world.

Program Opportunities

Participants have opportunities to:

  • Learn how to study the Bible with confidence
  • Develop a consistent and meaningful prayer life
  • Discover and use their spiritual gifts
  • Build a strong Christian worldview

Resident Fellows Program

For those seeking a more immersive experience through the optional Resident Fellows Program, you may apply to take your Mentorship to the next level. Experience daily opportunities in a Christian community while contributing toward the cost of housing, utilities, and household expenses.

A few students and ministry interns are invited to live at Haven House to participate long-term through shared meals, prayer, study, mentoring, fellowship, hospitality, and spiritual formation.

Resident Fellows Program Fees

The total Haven House Resident Fellows and Mentor Program fees are $950 per month, which helps cover program materials and activities. However, thanks to generous supporters, Fellows are invited to participate through two $100 scholarships, bringing both programs to just $750 per month.

Not Open to General Public

Haven House is not operated as a hotel, boarding house, dormitory, transient lodging facility, or commercial rental enterprise. Rooms are not available to the general public. Residency is limited to approved participants engaged in the fellowship and educational mission of the Christian Study Center. The property is not open to the general public for lodging or short-term occupancy.

A Christian Study Center

The primary purpose of the residence is religious, educational, and community-oriented living integrated into a shared household environment. As a Christian Study Center, Haven House offers meeting space for Christian faculty members and student leaders to conduct Bible studies, lectures, and fellowship.

What Makes Haven House Unique

Mentorships & Community

Mentorships & Community

Mentorships & Community

We are supported by local clergy, community leaders, members of the Stockton faculty, and several alumni. Many of these local leaders are mentors to our residents. We demonstrate our commitment to our mission through regular contact with mentors and through formal and nonformal discipleship programs.

Mentorships & Community

Residents are invited to live at Haven House because they seek Christian community and commit to following Christian principles, particularly to "Love Thy Neighbor." That means we maintain quiet hours, a clean household, and maintain the property.

Household Structure

Not a Boarding House

Not a Boarding House

We maintain a shared kitchen and arrange communal dining. We live with a shared household covenant that guides how we live in community. Residents are invited and processed through our Resident Admission Group to confirm a right fit.

Not a Boarding House

We have a single shared lease with the owners, Haven Beat the Streets. Residents are invited to the Haven House fellowship for long-term stays, typically one school semester or longer. We do not advertise or rent separate rooms to the general public. All residents are part of one household.

Safety & Compliance

Safety & Compliance

We follow safety guidance set by  Galloway Township, including the proper installation, maintenance, and inspection of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. We maintain all facilities, including fire extinguishers, in accordance with housing and fire regulations. And we limit occupancy to local regulations.
