Our Story

History

The Student Centre was birthed in prayer by the Word of the Lord, over many years with many words of encouragement, including a personal exhortation to start the Centre from YWAM’s founder, Loren Cunningham.

Originally named the UofN Student Mobilization Centre, we were commissioned by the Board of Regents of the University of the Nations, YWAM’s global university, in September 1997 in Seoul, South Korea. The name, UofN Student Mobilization Centre of Youth With A Mission, was registered with the IRS and in the Commonwealth of Virginia in January 1998. We have been registered to operate in New Jersey since 2013.

What is the Student Centre?

The Centre is a network. We are a University Ministries Circle of YWAM International. We are a YWAM staff team of certified coordinators on five continents. We are part of YWAM’s Campus Ministries International and we have trained hundreds of YWAM campus ministry staff, host partners, and volunteers.

Why a Christian Study Center?

The Christian Study Center at Haven House is operating next to Stockton University in Galloway Township, NJ.

Rather than starting a Christian Study Center with lectures and book studies, we are beginning with a home, which many young adults have little knowledge about, because they come from broken and/or dysfunctional families.

At the present time, Haven House is the home of John & Mary Henry. We welcome a few university students and young adults to be Resident Fellows of the Christian Study Center. All Resident Fellows are part of the ministries of Haven House, including prayer, hospitality, and outreach by living with our family, in our home, and welcoming friends to our table.

We are dedicated to knowing God and making Him known in Nations through Vocations.

YWAM Student Centre is registered with the IRS as UofN Student Mobilization Centre of Youth With A Mission.

Mission & Vision

A Mission to Empower Students

To empower and equip students and young adults with transformative experiences that inspire personal growth, deepen faith, and cultivate global awareness. We foster learning, leadership, and service, encouraging individuals to pursue their unique calling. Through discipleship, training, and outreach programs, we aim to nurture purpose-driven lives committed to spreading the knowledge of the glory of God worldwide.

Participants in the Vision

Fellowships are live-learn internships and outreaches for university students, YWAMers, and any young adult dedicated to following Jesus into their unique calling from God. Fellows collaborate in designing their serving/learning project based on their studies, skill set, career goals, or calling. All  Fellows serve a ministry partner organization to complete a customized missions project.

Resident Fellows

A special category of Converge Fellows are Resident Fellows who live, learn, and serve at a Christian Study Center or with a Campus Ministry Partner. ** Openings available for Resident Fellows at Haven House in Galloway, NJ. **
